SUMMARY :

Assists with the implementation and monitoring of behavior management goals for the acquisition, reduction, generalization, and maintenance of resident behaviors. Assists in staff development and training in goals and other areas.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

1. Develops acquisition goals in the areas of self-care and daily living skills, and assists in the data collection for behavioral goals (i.e. : reduction and / or replacement goals.)

2. Assists in developing a number of leisure goals for all residents.

3. Trains direct care staff in the implementation of all goals (including reduction goals).

4. Provides in-service training to residential staff on new goals and revises procedures.

5. Monitors goals on a monthly basis, including possible revision of STOs (short term objectives) and Training Methods.

6. Monitors direct care staff on site during implementation of goals.

7. Attends Support Plan meetings when necessary.

8. Assists in the preparation of Quarterly and Annual Summaries.

9. Meets with the GSS / DHRS on a regular basis to discuss goal materials, behavior issues, and any other pertinent issues.

10. Performs other essential tasks as needed or directed.

QUALIFICATIONS :

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and / or ability required. EDUCATION and / or EXPERIENCE :

Two (2) years' formal education from an accredited college or university.

One (1) year of direct experience working with the developmentally disabled. Experience may be substituted on a year for year basis for the required college education.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES :

Ability to deal courteously, tactfully and efficiently with residents, families, staff members and the general public.

Emotional stability and maturity with a genuine interest in working with residents.

Capable of working a flexible hour / day or weekend schedule.

Strong managerial and supervisory competencies.

Knowledge of life-safety and infection control protocols.

Willingness to comply with in-service, training or other mandates.

Ability to use a computer and word processing program.

A.C.T. Certification and / or training.

Knowledge of State and / or Federal behavioral guidelines.

Knowledge of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), particularly as it pertains to a barrier free environment.
