Custodial Services

Coe College is seeking qualified candidates for a position in Custodial Services. This position is responsible for the manual labor associated with the daily cleaning of buildings. Employees are under immediate supervision and perform various duties requiring moderate physical strength. Typical duties include, but are not limited to: dust mopping, waxing, cleaning restrooms, removing trash, polishing furniture, and simple operation of basic mechanical cleaning equipment, and supervision of student workers

Essential Job Responsibilities:

• Dustmop, sweep, wet mop, spray-buff, and topcoat floors
• Vacuum and bonnet clean rugs and carpets as needed
• Vacuuming of furniture and drapes as needed
• Scrub and clean restroom floors and fixtures
• Supply building restrooms with towels, soap, etc.
• Dust and clean walls, doors, windows and other above floor surfaces
• Clean elevators and stairwells
• Keep simple records and simple reports
• Notify supervisor of equipment and facilities needing repair
• Replace any incandescent light bulbs that are accessible with a step ladder - maximum ladder height of 6 feet
• Snow shoveling a path to the building
• Perform related work as assigned and instructed
• Operate electrical floor buffer
• Non-routine work: This is manual labor associated with the recurring but non-routine cleaning and maintenance of buildings. Employees will be under immediate supervision performing tasks requiring moderate physical strength. This work is project type in nature and is paid $.40/hour premium pay.
• Total stripping and refinishing of floors (includes moving of equipment when necessary)
• Carpet shampooing - total cleaning
• Related work as assigned and instructed

Qualifications:

• Shall have a high school diploma, GED, and/or combination of years of experience
• Training that may be gained through schools, seminars, etc., and some experience in performing cleaning work and other combination of training and experience.
• Ability to accomplish the above tasks as determined by a written and practical test.
• Applicants must be currently authorized to work for ANY employer in the United States as we are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time.
• Successful completion of a background and driver check in accordance with Coe College policy.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:

• Basic custodial duties in variety of building atmospheres. Must be able to lift 20lbs on a regular basis.
