Job Summary :
The Registered Nurse will provide comprehensive care to patients in the Labor and Delivery / Antepartum unit, including newborn care, medication administration (Magnesium, Pitocin), and post-partum care. The role involves circulating, triaging, recovering, and providing discharge instructions and car seat education. The RN must be willing to float to Post Partum / Nursery and participate in on-call duties and weekend shifts.
Location : Santa Barbara, California, United States
Responsibilities :
- Circulate and triage patients in the Labor and Delivery / Antepartum unit.
- Provide newborn care, including heel sticks, hyperbilirubinemia management, TCB / TSB monitoring, and circumcision care / assistance.
- Administer medications such as Magnesium and Pitocin.
- Recover patients post-delivery.
- Provide post-partum care.
- Educate patients on discharge instructions and car seat safety.
- Perform blood transfusions.
- Document patient care and related duties.
- Assist in emergency situations.
Required Skills & Certifications :
ACLS, AWHONN Advanced, BCLS, and NRP certifications.Minimum of 2 years of Labor and Delivery / Antepartum experience.Experience with newborn care, Magnesium, Pitocin, SVE, circulating, recovering, and post-partum care.Proficiency in heel sticks, hyperbilirubinemia management, TCB / TSB monitoring, discharge instructions, car seat education, blood transfusions, and circumcision care / assistance.Experience with Omnicell and Epic systems.Preferred Skills & Certifications :
3 years of Labor and Delivery / Antepartum experience preferred.Extensive travel experience may compensate for slightly less experience (2-2.5 years).Special Considerations :
Must be willing to float to Post Partum / Nursery.Limited holiday RTO (Request Time Off) may be accommodated.On-call required : 1 per 2 weeks.Scheduling :
3x12 hour NIGHT shifts.Weekends required : 5 to 6 per 6-week period.
