Forklift Operator

Industrial Truck Operator

Drives an industrial truck equipped with lifting devices, such as forklift, to lift, stack, tier, or move equipment and / or materials in the Fabrication yard. Majority of movements will be of casing, tubing, line pipe, plate and pre-fabricated raw goods.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following :

Loads, unloads trucks with different types of pipes such as casing, tubing, line pipe, and plate of different grades and wall thickness.

Keep record of receiving and shipping of materials by quantity, and product.

Verifies area where loading and unloading occurs is clear of obstructions, to include equipment and people.

Inspects forklift on a daily basis to ensure maintenance is up to date, there is no damage, and no issues that require immediate attention.

Performs daily counts of inventory i.e. finished goods; spot checks racks periodically on a weekly basis making sure raw goods are available for the finished goods.

Performs monthly building inspections on circuit outlets, fire extinguishers, eye wash station.

Reports found problems to direct supervisor for resolution.

Other duties may be assigned.

Qualifications

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); minimum one year related experience and / or training.

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide.

Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.

Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office.

Forklift Certification

Drivers License

Ability to work well and communicate with others.

Must be safety oriented.

Must be open to working weekends and being on-call when needed.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and / or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
