Overview of the HR Generalist role :
The
HR Generalist
will be a key contributor to daily HR operations, helping to maintain a compliant and supportive work environment. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, confident in working with union-related matters, and comfortable handling sensitive employee information with professionalism and discretion.
Key Responsibilities :
Facilitate onboarding and orientation for new hires, ensuring all required documentation is completed accurately and on time
Administer employee benefits, including enrollments, updates, and terminations
Maintain compliance with employment laws and internal policies, managing accurate HR documentation
Support union-related processes, including interpreting agreements and coordinating union wages and dues with payroll
Respond to employee inquiries related to policies, benefits, and union matters
Assist with HR reporting, offboarding procedures, and administrative tasks as needed
Preferred Qualifications for the HR Generalist :
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field Preferred
2+ years of HR experience, ideally with exposure to union environments and benefit administration
Knowledge of employment law and HR compliance best practices
Strong organizational and communication skills
Proficiency in HR software systems and Microsoft Office Suite
Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
