Description :
Critical care registered nurses provide care for patients with severe medical issues.
They assess patient conditions and develop and implement care plans.
They treat wounds and provide advanced life support.
They assist physicians in procedures and observe and record vital signs.
They ensure proper functioning of medical equipment, including ventilators and monitors.
They administer intravenous fluids and medications and perform suctioning.
They collaborate with fellow critical care team members.
They respond to life-saving situations following nursing standards and protocols.
They act as patient advocates and provide education and support to patient families.
Critical care nurses may also care for pre- and post-operative patients.
Some may serve as case managers and policy makers, while others perform administrative duties.
