Assistant Superintendent

The primary function of the Assistant Project Superintendent is to assist the Senior Project Superintendent, Project Superintendent or other assigned supervisor(s) in all matters related to field activities for a specific project. An Assistant Project Superintendent may be assigned overall responsibility for a smaller project where appropriate.

Key Responsibilities

The duties, responsibilities and attributes of the Assistant Project Superintendent include, but are not limited to :

• Capable of being successful in the lead Project Superintendent role on a project with a project budget range of $1M - $10M, under various delivery methods, diversity in market sectors and varying complexities.
• Assist the Senior Project Superintendent, Project Superintendent or other assigned supervisors(s) when part of a large project team.
• Has the ability to manage a segment or area of a large project as part of a large project team.
• Assist the Senior Project Superintendent, Project Superintendent or other assigned supervisors(s) with the initial preparation and maintenance of schedules.
• Assist with the development, maintenance and enforcement of project site safety programs.
• Assist with the coordination and management of material procurement and deliveries.
• Assist with the implementation of all SWPPP measures and documentation.
• Assist in maintaining a complete and accurate set of working documents pertaining to the project.
• Assist in the coordination of all field inspections and testing.
• Possess knowledge of all documents associated with the project.
• Reads and understands subcontracts and the associated exhibits. Has the ability to enforce contractual obligations in the field.

Interpersonal Skills :

Qualifications : Four-year degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture or equivalent experience in a related field or 3-5 years minimum of relevant project field experience, as a Field Engineer or equivalent.

Proficiency in basic computer skills (MS Word, Excel, Outlook).

Basic familiarity with Microsoft Project or P6 Scheduling Software and Project Management Software, such as Prolog, Viewpoint, CMiC or equivalent applications. With general knowledge and experience, using daily software tools, such as Bluebeam, Plan Grid, Safety Mojo, BIM 360 Glue, etc.

Completion of OSHA 30-Hour Safety Course First Aid and CPR certified.

Understanding of construction administration processes, including construction documents, schedules, RFIs, Submittals and material procurement.

Physical Demands : Performance of the required duties will require physical ability to climb permanent and temporary stairs, passenger use of construction personnel hoists, ability to climb ladders and negotiate work areas under construction. Work Environment : While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works on-site at the construction work site where the employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts, high precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, outside weather conditions and risk of electrical shock. The noise in these work environments is usually moderate to very loud.
