Our Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) team in Houston has an immediate need for a CADD Technician. In this role you will be responsible for creating technical drawings used in the construction of products and materials while their drawing is carried out with specific CAD software.

What you will do :

  • Prepare drawings of complex integrated security systems.
  • Ensure compliance of quality standards in CAD / MicroStation drawings.
  • Redesign drawings according to markups and specifications.
  • Translate and convert hand drawings and sketches into CAD / MicroStation systems.
  • Read, evaluate and interpret designs and drawings.
  • Document and update all drawings.
  • Design and architect building drawings and document.
  • Support compliance procedures of drafting and engineering standards.

You are a critical thinker who uses that skill and collaboration for analysis and problem solving. You have above average technical capacity which can be applied to all job functions. You are a proficient communicator employing both verbal and written forms to assure understanding and quality completion of tasks. You demonstrate flexibility by the ability to quickly shift between tasks as needed.

What you bring :

  • High School diploma or equivalent required, associate degree preferred.
  • 3-7 years’ experience as a CAD / MicroStation Technician.
  • Advanced knowledge of CAD / MicroStation and AutoCAD software.
  • Ability to read and translate blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Basic understanding of design and mechanical processes.
  • Knowledge of engineering principles and ability to create and read technical drawings.
  • IT skills and experience using computer-aided design software such as Autocad
  • Attention to detail to create accurate and detailed drawings
  • Essential to be able to work in a team as you’ll be liaising with other CAD technicians and draughtspersons on projects
  • A flexible approach to decision making, to make changes to drawings at short notice
  • Mathematical skills to complete calculations and estimates
  • Spatial and design skills to be able to visualize projects in 2D and 3D
  • Office software including MS Office and Adobe Professional (or BlueBeam) required
