Senior Traffic Engineer

Alpha Corporation is seeking a motivated and experienced professional for immediate placement in our Baltimore office to lead our traffic engineering services in Maryland. This position will work closely with local leadership to grow a traffic engineering team to service a variety of clients. Responsibilities include development of a traffic engineering business, management of projects, recruiting, staff development, client relationships, and coordination with peers in Alpha's transportation business line. Our team works with local and national clients to provide solutions to their transportation needs. Typical projects will vary but may include ITS planning, traffic planning signal / lighting design. The successful candidate will be able to lead both planning and plan sheets, specifications and estimates (PS&E) development for projects across the state and around the region.

Position Responsibilities and duties include :

Lead, build, and support a team of professionals to deliver :

• Traffic forecasting, safety studies, traffic simulation, and conceptual planning / design
• Plan sheets, specifications & estimates, technical memoranda, reports, presentations and other project documentation
• Serve in various roles on traffic projects, or tasks as project manager, technical leader, expert advisor, or quality control
• Actively participate in the team's production of technical deliverables ranging from plans, specifications, estimates, reports, memorandums, etc.
• Provide technical leadership and supervision of small-to-large tasks, working with junior staff and reviewing technical work and project documentation
• Deliver assigned tasks on schedule and budget, while adhering to Alpha's quality standards
• Coordinate directly with other discipline groups within Alpha, as well as with external clients and sub-consultants
• Perform work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with little supervision.
• Independently perform all the tasks necessary to complete primary design elements for engineering works.
• Coordinate with Business Development leaders to capture project opportunities

The incumbent in this position can typically expect to sit and use his / her hands to handle and feel for more than 2 / 3 of the day. He / she can expect to stand or walk for more than 1 / 3 of the day. Talking and listening are also expected for more than 2 / 3 of the day. The ability to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, or reach with arms will be needed for less than 1 / 3 of the day.

This position requires that the incumbent be able to lift items up to 10 pounds on an infrequent basis.

The incumbent in this position should have clear vision at 20 inches or less. He / she should be able to view various reports and forms as well as information displayed on a computer monitor and have the ability to distinguish between different colors. Depth perception, peripheral vision, the ability to focus, and the ability to see for a distance are also necessary.
