Medical Director Inpatient Psychiatry opening in Derby, Connecticut Located 11 miles from New Haven, CT; 40 miles from Hartford, and 75 miles from NYC Details :

• Permanent position
• Provide direct patient care, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and medication management for individuals with psychiatric disorders. This involves working with patients across various demographics and ensuring they receive the highest standard of care within the inpatient setting.
• When assigned, provides appropriate supervision for students and residents.
• Responsible for collaboration with other staff.
• Responsible for assuring coordinated care within the assigned setting and assuring continuity of care within the psychiatric department.
• Participates in evaluation of the quality of services provided.
• Demonstrates administrative and organizational skills.
• Demonstrates an awareness of and adherence to all institutional, regulatory, legal and professional guidelines governing the provision of mental health services.
• Maintains responsibility for attendance / reliability to ensure that the Hospital is operated in an efficient and cost-effective manner.
• Contributes to the mission of the Organization by supporting Employee Philosophy, Planetree Model of Care, and organizational goals.
• Board Certification required.
• Experience : Minimum two-year experience preferred. Position Specifics :
• How many other Psychiatrists on staff will the Medical Director oversee? Oversees unit as medical director - care team providers, and APRN who works on inpatient and med floor consults
• How much admin time vs. clinical time? Sees 10 pts minimum daily. Most day clinical time. Admin varies on unit needs or involvement in hospital committees
• How many beds does the inpatient unit have? 14 adult only
• What is the average daily patient census? 14
• What is the work schedule? Mon - Fri 8 / 8 : 30 - 4 : 30 / 5
• What is the on call frequency? Weekday evenings by phone only 1 / wk, weekend on site rounding averages 1 / month (additional pay for weekend on site rounding), could request more weekend on call for compensation. Also 1 of 6 Legal holidays on site rounding Comp Benefits :
