This is a statewide recruitment. The office headquarters for this position will be determined based on the primary residence of the selected candidate.
Under the general direction of the Field Accounting Manager (Accounting Administrator I / SSM I), the Senior Accounting Officer (Supervisor) is primarily responsible for supervising accounting staff engaged in the processing of Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) Services Accounts Payable, in coordination with the Financial Services & Reporting Branch, VR Services Accounts Payable team. This includes daily oversight of invoice review, coding, reconciliation, and issue resolution using systems such as Aware, FI$Cal, and the WEX CalDOR Payment Portal.
In addition, the supervisor directs staff in performing supplemental district-level accounting functions such as petty cash support, check issuance, and deposit processing, ensuring all activities are timely, accurate, and compliant with departmental policies and internal controls. The supervisor also coordinates with the Field Accounting Manager to support VR service and goods authorizations related to accounts payable activity, ensuring alignment with fiscal policy and service delivery requirements.
This position supports consistent fiscal practices across field offices, audit readiness, and compliance with SAM, RAM, GAAP, and internal control standards, and applicable state and departmental fiscal policies.
