Job Title: PediatricianReports To :Chief Medical OfficerTypical Working Conditions: Frequent exposure to communicable diseases and / or bodily fluids, toxic substances, medicinal preparations and other conditions common to a clinic environment. Requires working under stress in emergency situations or during irregular hours. Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.Qualifications :M.D. or D.O. degree. Completion of accredited residency-training program.New York State physician license. Knowledge of the professional medical practice and care. Knowledge of organizational policies, regulations and procedures to administer patient care. Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments to administer patient care. Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment. Skill in preparing and maintaining records, writing reports, and responding to correspondence. Skill in developing and maintaining department quality assurance. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, provider staff, support staff and the public. Ability to maintain quality control standards. Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations. Ability to interpret, adapt, and apply guidelines and procedures. Ability to communicate clearly.
- Primary Function :
- Provide primary health care for Family Health Network clients.
- General Summary of Duties
- Obtain complete medical history and physical data on patients. Review patient records.
- Interpret and integrate data to determine appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic procedures needed.
- Perform a complete physical exam and record findings. Establish diagnosis.
- Order appropriate laboratory and diagnostic procedures.
- Synthesize data to determine diagnosis and therapeutic plan utilizing principles of prevention.
- Administer injections, immunizations and oral medications. Suture wounds. Prepare written prescription orders for drugs and controlled substances.
- Interview and advise patients regarding health and illness prevention. Recommend community resources to meet patient and family needs.
- Instruct patient and family regarding medications and treatment instructions. Provide patient education.
- Record in-patient progress notes and issues diagnostic orders.
- Assist the triage nursing staff in giving advice and provide consultation.
- Perform evaluations and treatment procedures in emergency situations.
- Provide monitoring and continuity of care for patients.
- Attend required meetings and participate in committees as requested.
- Participate in professional development activities and maintain professional affiliations.
- Physician may be asked to participate in quality improvement activities which include but are not limited to performing PDSA, administering Patient Satisfactions Surveys and following up on high risk patients based on population reports for patients with poor clinical outcomes or with lapses in care.
- Physician is part of the patient care team. The care team is comprised of the patient, care coordinator, nurse, and provider. As part of the patient care team, Physician will engage patients in their own health care. This will include supporting patients and their families in self-management and positive behavior change. This will require good communication which is both open and supportive.
- This position requires compliance with Health Center's written standards, including its Standards of Conduct and policies and procedures pertaining to all operational aspects, furthermore this position is required to report any suspected instances of noncompliance.
- This position will function as a contributing member of the emergency preparedness team under the incident command system.
- Maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
- All other duties as assigned.
