The Northampton Public Schools is seeking an Assistive Technology Specialist! Assistive Technology Specialist District-Wide One (1) .60 Vacancy 21 hours per weekMonday through Friday : Hours vary based on school times. MA DESE License Certification in Technology or Elementary is University / College Transcripts are required. Teacher Unit A Salary Scale based on experience and Assistive Technology Specialist (AT Specialist) in Student Services will work with faculty and students to ensure that appropriate technology is accounted for distributed and understood in a manner that makes the technology a useful tool in the classroom and independent learning and work production by students. The Assistive Technology Specialist will work with faculty in a collaborative manner and with students in the role of consultant and at times in providing direct Assistive Technology Specialist will be jointly supervised by the Director of Student Services and the Technology EnvironmentThe Assistive Technology Specialist will have a working space in one of the Northampton Public Schools buildings. However the AT Specialist will maintain a regular schedule of services for all of the Northampton Public Schools as determined by student need professional development / consults for teaching faculty and assessments for FunctionsEvaluate web based programs as requestedoDetermine usersoCost and value to usersoCreate a plan for district SPED use (including but not limited to)KurzweillBookshareRaz KidsGingerReading A to ZCatalog all testing and student software as requestedoContent area softwareoPsych and ed testing software catalogowork with Student Services staff to maintain updated versionsIn collaboration with Student Services and the Technology Department develop protocols for : oiPad appsoborrowing tech equipmentoother hardware or software web-based programs as neededTraining / instruction / evaluationoConsult with teachers / students as directed by IEPsoUse consult time to train teachers so they can instruct studentsoModel use of technology in instruction with studentsoCreate and carry out an Assistive Technology evaluation protocol as requestedRecommended Minimum Qualifications / Education and Experience : Masters Degree in Technology Instruction Special Education or a related fieldMassachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education certification in Special Education Technology Instruction or a related fieldWorking knowledge of a variety of technology tools and programs used to assist special education students in learning and accessing mediaAbility to physically navigate the school buildings effectively to deliver instruction / consultationStrong communication skillsKnowledge Ability and SkillsWorking knowledge of a variety of technology tools and programs used to assist special education students in learning and accessing mediaAbility to physically navigate the school buildings effectively to deliver instruction / consultationStrong communication skillsStrong teaching skillsHighly organizedAble to create and maintain inventories of hardware software as requestedAble to be sufficiently organized to serve students in all buildings within the Northampton systemBENEFITS : Benefits and privileges are consistent with the Northampton Association of School Employees (NASE) Teachers - Unit A Collective Bargaining Agreement Contract.
