Senior IT Project Manager (Contract-to-Hire)

Location : Boston, MA (Hybrid)

Position Overview

The Senior IT Project Manager leads large-scale infrastructure and operations projects, ensuring delivery within defined scope, timeline, and budget. This role involves managing initiatives such as data center migrations, network modernization, cloud adoption, and enterprise system integrations. The ideal candidate brings strong technical acumen, vendor management experience, and a proven ability to drive outcomes in complex enterprise environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the planning and execution of IT infrastructure programs, including data center transitions, cloud platform deployments, and network upgrades
  • Partner with technical leads and business owners to define scope, success criteria, and execution strategies.
  • Develop project schedules, manage dependencies, and drive cross-functional alignment across engineering, operations, and support teams.
  • Monitor budgets, contracts, and vendor performance to ensure project goals are achieved efficiently.
  • Identify potential risks and implement proactive mitigation strategies to avoid disruptions.
  • Coordinate operational readiness and post-deployment support activities to ensure seamless transitions.
  • Report on project milestones, financials, and key metrics to senior leadership.
  • Maintain compliance with IT governance, cybersecurity, and organizational policies.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of PMO processes, methodologies, and tools.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline; PMP or similar certification preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience managing IT infrastructure and operations projects, including hands-on involvement in data center and cloud initiatives
  • Strong understanding of networking, storage, server, and virtualization technologies.
  • Experience working within ITIL and service management frameworks.
  • Demonstrated success managing cross-functional teams and vendor relationships.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and presentation skills.
  • Proficiency in project management software such as MS Project, Smartsheet, or Jira, and collaboration tools like Microsoft Teams or Confluence.
