Job Summary :

The Senior Controls / Test Engineer plays a critical role in optimizing and supporting plant testing and assembly systems. This position encompasses a wide range of responsibilities from equipment specification and troubleshooting to cross-functional collaboration and process improvement. The engineer will serve as a technical lead and mentor, helping the plant meet both operational and strategic goals through innovation, safety compliance, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities :

Develop guidelines for selecting test equipment and designing data protocols.

Troubleshoot and support electrical systems and test equipment on the plant floor.

Create test equipment specifications aligned with OSHA and electrical safety standards.

Perform root cause and failure analyses; teach others critical thinking and problem-solving.

Guide capital equipment selection and contribute to Capital Appropriation Requests (CARs).

Collaborate with manufacturing, engineering, quality, and safety teams on initiatives.

Lead and support cost-out and Lean Six Sigma improvement efforts.

Utilize and improve information systems for test data management and flow.

Manage cross-functional projects, including timeline, scope, communication, and change control.

Promote and enforce a zero-incident culture by ensuring conformance to safety standards.

Required Experience :

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or related field

Minimum 3 years of experience in test / controls engineering

Experience with Visual Basic, Visual Studio, SQL, Rockwell Software, and FactoryTalk

Familiarity with RSLogix 5 / 500 / 5000, Studio 5000, FactoryTalk View ME / SE, NI LabVIEW / TestStand

Experience in PLC / HMI programming and safety systems design

Legal authorization to work in the U.S. without sponsorship

Project management skills

Nice-to-Have Experience :

5+ years in Controls / Test engineering

Green Belt or Black Belt certification in Six Sigma

Electrical testing experience and protocol knowledge

Familiarity with NFPA 70E and safe electrical work practices

Engineered-to-Order (ETO) manufacturing support

Experience interpreting electrical schematics and wiring diagrams

Hands-on support for production issue resolution

Required Skills :

Rockwell Automation software suite

PLC and HMI development

Electrical safety systems and OSHA compliance

Root cause analysis tools (8D, FMEA, Pareto, A3)

Cross-functional communication and leadership

Preferred Skills :

Project leadership using PROLaunch or similar frameworks

Advanced problem-solving and change management (ADKAR, MOC)

Lean / Six Sigma methodologies

Technical training and mentoring of junior staff

Additional Skills :

Coordination with internal and external stakeholders

Ability to execute assessments and act as category lead

Capital project planning and equipment validation
