United Community Bank is seeking an experienced Lead Mortgage Processor to oversee and support a team of mortgage processors. In this role you will be responsible for managing the daily workflow of the processing team. This includes ensuring loan files are accurate, completing and meeting regulatory and investor guidelines, as well as ensuring timely loan closings. This person will also be responsible for developing and conducting regular training for the mortgage processors.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Supervise and support a team of mortgage processors, providing guidance and training as needed
  • Review and monitor pipeline reports to ensure deadlines are met
  • Perform quality control checks on loan files before submission to underwriting
  • Ensure compliance with all lending regulations, company policies and investor requirements
  • Assist in developing and implementing process improvements to increase team productivity and accuracy
  • Answer customer questions and inquiries
  • Monitor daily workflow utilizing system tools
  • Other related duties as assigned

Computer Requirements :

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, and Power Point)
  • Familiarity with Encompass is a plus
  • Education / Experience Requirements :

  • High school degree or equivalent
  • Working knowledge of TRID and general residential mortgage guidelines / regulations is a plus
  • Additional Requirements :

  • Previous customer service skills preferred
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to practice discretion and handle confidential information in a professional manner
  • Ability to perform duties independently with limited direct supervision
  • Problem Solving / Analysis skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers and coworkers
  • Written and verbal (face-to-face and phone) communication skills including professional grammar and demeanor
  • Ability to explain the benefits of bank products and services and answer customer questions regarding these products and services
  • Knowledge of financial institution regulations
  • Ability to multitask
  • Strong professional integrity in compliance with company policy, and ethical and legal standards
  • General knowledge of bank procedures and how they apply to other areas of the bank
  • Attendance Requirements :

    Employees are expected to report to work as scheduled, on time and prepared to start work. Employees are expected to remain at work for their entire work schedule. Late arrival, early departure or other absences from scheduled hours should be avoided.

    Working Conditions :

    This job operates in a clerical setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
