Direct Support Professional DSP

Residential Management Services, Inc. is seeking

• Direct Support Professionals
• (DSP) who are direct care staff for individuals with developmental / intellectual disabilities for our homes in the
• Cromwell
• Area.
• Part-time hours available.

Duties include :

• Professional positive supports to people with intellectual disabilities
• Teaching skills to each person served to promote quality of life.
• Actively learning about the interests, support needs and skills of each person served through direct interaction, observation, insights of other staff team members, family members, etc.
• Establishing positive relationships with each person served, co- workers, family members and other people who are important in the individual's life
• Providing assistance as appropriate to each individual in personal care and hygiene
• Working as team member to ensure household cleanliness and safety standards are in full compliance with DDS and R.M.S. requirements
• Correctly and accurately completing all required documentation
• Observing and monitoring each individual during each shift to identify any changes in health status or other concerns
• Providing safe transportation with an agency vehicle

Qualifications include :

• At least 18 years old
• Valid CT Driver's License, good driving record and available means of transportation
• High School diploma or GED
• Good communication skills, able to present information in a clear manner
• Knowledge of general computer use
• Ability to lift and transfer up to 30 pounds
• Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities is a plus

Weekend Differential : salary plus 2.50 / hour

Overnight sleep : 17.25 / hour
