Clinical Coordinator
Location : Portland, ME (Hybrid 2 days onsite / 3 days remote)
Schedule : MondayFriday, 8-hour workday within core hours of 9 : 00 AM3 : 00 PM
Duration : Approximately 8 months (through July 2026)
Pay Rate : $30.49 / hour
About the Role
My client, a Fortune 500 financial services institution, is seeking a detail-oriented Clinical Coordinator to join their Clinical Services team. In this role, you will help ensure timely, accurate, and impartial clinical referrals that support the organizations disability and claims functions.
The selected individual will report to the Director of Clinical Services and collaborate closely with a peer Clinical Coordinator, Medical Director, and Claims staff.
Key Responsibilities
Review clinical referral requests for completeness and accuracy, clarifying discrepancies with clinical and claims staff as needed
Prepare medical case files and initiate referrals with external medical vendors or consulting physicians
Ensure impartiality and the appropriate specialty alignment when assigning referrals
Monitor referral timelines, proactively follow up to ensure prompt completion, and communicate updates to stakeholders
Review completed vendor reports for quality and completeness before routing to claim files
Partner with leadership and vendors to resolve quality or service issues
Assist in tracking vendor performance metrics (timeliness, quality, and cost-effectiveness)
Support invoice oversight, expense reporting, and vendor compliance activities
Maintain accurate documentation while upholding confidentiality and data integrity standards
Qualifications
3+ years of experience in healthcare administration, medical claims, or insurance coordination
Familiarity with medical terminology and healthcare processes strongly preferred
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to engage professionally with internal and external partners
Comfortable working independently in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and adept at navigating multiple systems or vendor portals
High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or higher preferred
Training and Work Environment
Initial 23 days of training, followed by ongoing mentorship and support
Collaborative, professional team environment with strong leadership engagement
Hybrid schedule : typically 2 days onsite / 3 days remote (may consider fully remote for exceptional candidates)
All equipment provided (laptop, monitors, headset, etc.); candidates must have reliable internet and a quiet, dedicated workspace
