Purpose Of The Job
Lilly continues to generate tremendous value through R&D, both through our promising internal programs as well as accessing exciting external innovation. We continue to set our sights higher, with a goal of launching multiple high-value NMEs per year and reducing cycle times to speed innovation to patients. Our ability to analyze information on our competitors' data and strategies to drive decision-making has become a critical element of setting and executing our strategy. The Associate Director, Competitive Analytics, will influence the broader R&D strategy by collaborating with the R&D team as well as LRL and BU partners. In this role you will provide actionable analyses for therapeutic and functional areas to guide decisions and strategies for scientists, project teams, and management, ultimately enabling corporate initiatives (e.g. Next Gen R&D, 3NME).

Basic Qualifications
Bachelors Degree in a health-related, scientific or engineering field. Experience in the pharmaceutical business, R&D processes, and scientific concepts to contextualize analyses and establish credibility to customer base, peers and management. 5+ years of experience in one or more business analytics and visualization tools including (but not limited to) AWS, SQL, VBA, Power BI, Python, or R, etc that enable production of data-driven analyses and insights from competitor data. Qualified candidate must be legally authorized to be employed in the United States. Additional Skills / Preferences
Advanced degree in life sciences and / or business / finance. Degree or formal training in IT or computer science. Combined fluencies in the life sciences, and business / finance analytics. Excellent analytical and creative problem-solving skills. Ability to identify and pursue alternative paths of inquiry for challenging questions. Comfortable with ambiguity and uncertainty. Ability to connect sets of data through data translation. A general understanding of database design, data ingestion through APIs, text mining, or other advanced data manipulation capabilities. Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to simplify and articulate the complex. Demonstrated Team Lilly mindset and collaborative approach, including a track record of strong teamwork practices and achieving success by working with others. Ability to effectively prioritize work and deliver on time-sensitive requests. High learning agility; able to quickly grasp new concepts and absorb large amounts of information under time pressure. Skilled in searching out information from both traditional and non-traditional sources, all within the guidelines of our policy. Ability to work with multiple sources of incomplete data sets and synthesize a "true" understanding of our competitors' strategies.

Actual compensation will depend on a candidate's education, experience, skills, and geographic location. The anticipated wage for this position is $132,000 - $193,600. Full-time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a company bonus (depending, in part, on company and individual performance). In addition, Lilly offers a comprehensive benefit program to eligible employees, including eligibility to participate in a company-sponsored 401(k); pension; vacation benefits; eligibility for medical, dental, vision and prescription drug benefits; flexible benefits (e.g., healthcare and / or dependent day care flexible spending accounts); life insurance and death benefits; certain time off and leave of absence benefits; and well-being benefits (e.g., employee assistance program, fitness benefits, and employee clubs and activities).
