Job description

Custodian

Our Belief in the Importance of Teachers At Legacy Prep, you will be part of a community of game-changing educators who are creating new generational legacies for historically underserved youth in Birmingham, Alabama.

Primary Roles and Responsibilities :

Commitment to School and Culture

  • Vacuum or mop floors
  • Empty trash receptacles
  • Clean & sanitize bathrooms, urinals, toilets, mirrors, & wet mop floors
  • Immediate clean-up of accidents
  • Remove trash
  • Ensure common areas are cleaned (lobby, cafeteria, library, gym)
  • Ensure adequate supplies
  • Communicate with custodian staff

Additional Responsibilities :

Be available for after school activities as needed

Employment Qualifications :

Education :

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

    • Experience :

  • At least two years of custodial experience (preferred)
  • Experience working in a school environment

    • Skillset :

  • Ability to operate vacuum cleaner, floor cleaner, and other cleaning equipment broom
  • Knowledgeable about chemicals needed to clean and sanitize
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds

    • Mindset :

  • Ability to self-direct and prioritize cleaning and sanitizing
  • The ability to be flexible in a new school environment
