Accountant II, Corporate Accounting, South Bend, IN
Responsible for performing accounting duties that require the exercise of discretion and independent judgment to comply with financial reporting requirements set by existing and new federal regulations.
Essential Requirements include :
- Making recommendations to manager after evaluating different courses of action
 - Preparing monthly ledger entries and reconciliations
 - Preparing monthly and quarterly management and board reports
 - Reviewing and researching management requests
 - Maintaining assigned corporate subsidiaries including monthly accounting, reporting, budget, and forecast
 - Assisting with internal and external audit requests
 - Regular and predictable attendance
 - Completing all compliance training related to the position
 - Understanding all applicable laws and regulations that apply to the position
 - Performing accounting responsibilities for investment portfolio
 - Performing independent review of general ledger account reconciliations
 - Analyzing certain expense reserves and preparing quarterly expense reserve analysis report
 - Preparing and filing regulatory financial reports
 - Researching and understanding regulatory reporting requirements

Two to four years of related accounting or auditing experience preferredDetailed knowledge of generally accepted accounting principlesKnowledge of Bank regulatory requirements a plusKnowledge of PC based accounting systems a plusStrong computer skills including Word, Excel and PowerPointGood organizational skillsAnalytical and problem solving skills with attention to detailAbility to meet deadlinesAbility to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environmentGood written and verbal communications skillsEducation : Bachelors Degree preferred; concentration in Accounting preferred. CPA or CPA candidate preferred.
Travel Requirements : Ability to travel overnight, as needed for meetings, projects, training, seminars, etc.
Physical Demands : While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit, stand and walk; use hands and fingers to operate keyboard and other office equipment; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stoop or kneel. The employee may occasionally lift and / or move up to 10 pounds.
