Description

Jefferson County is seeking an Associate or Civil Engineer based on qualifications. The Successful applicant will work in the Capital Improvements Program (CIP) group of the Transportation & Engineering Division, responsible for performing engineering activities and construction management related to roadway, bridge, stormwater drainage, and traffic operations projects.

Responsibilities

• Inspect construction work and record observations.
• Track project budgets.
• Respond to citizen questions and concerns.
• Review contractor project schedules.
• Review project plans and specifications, performing entry-level technical engineering analysis and calculations.
• Manage project budgets (for Civil Engineer level).
• Lead construction projects related to roadway, bridge, stormwater drainage, and traffic operations.
• Represent the County at applicable meetings for assigned projects.
• Co-ordinate with county and agency personnel during design review and construction.
• Conduct field inspection activities during project construction and maintenance.
• Participate in review of critical path method (CPM) schedules, measure quantities, prepare progress payments, evaluate change orders.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations for stormwater management and traffic safety.
• Support the coordinating of street traffic controls and safety.
