Private Educator Requirements & Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or related field (advanced degree preferred) and direct experience applying said degree(s)Proven experience (5+ years) as a Governess, Private Educator, or high-level Nanny with young childrenKnowledge of Montessori and / or International Baccalaureate curriculumStrong communication skills with the ability to collaborate with principals / guardians on learning objectivesWarm, grounded presence with demonstrated humility, adaptability, and emotional intelligenceAbility to travel up to 40–45% of the year, both domestically and internationallyCPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)Valid driver’s license and passportPrivate Educator Must Haves
Collaborate with the female principal to design and adjust curriculum tailored to the child’s developmentProvide daily enrichment activities that foster intellectual, social, and emotional growthEstablish and reinforce consistent, respectful discipline and boundariesEnsure seamless continuity of routines and education during travel, demonstrating flexibility in dynamic settingsWork collaboratively with parents and household staff to align on routines and expectationsMaintain absolute confidentiality and discretion in all aspects of the rolePrivate Educator Preferred Background & Skills
Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Psychology, or related fieldMultilingual ability (French, Spanish, or Mandarin highly desirable)Experience supporting international travel and cross-cultural exposure for childrenBackground in enrichment areas such as music, art, or sports coachingPrior experience in private households or UHNW family settingsConfidence with household technology and organizational systems
