Dining Services Team Leader

Wellspring Lutheran Services is a statewide nonprofit dedicated to serving seniors, families, and children throughout Michigan. We are currently seeking a Dietary Team Lead to join our team in Fairview. In this role, you will oversee and support the dietary department to ensure high-quality meal service, compliance with food safety standards, and a positive dining experience for residents.

Responsibilities

As a Dietary Team Lead with Wellspring in Fairview, you will :

Provide leadership, training, and orientation to dietary staff.

Offer input to the department manager for annual staff evaluations.

Create and manage department schedules, ensuring adequate coverage during vacations, call-ins, or absences.

Participate in the recruitment and interview process for new staff.

Delegate daily work assignments and monitor task completion.

Prepare workstations for tray line and ensure smooth meal service operations.

Serve residents according to prescribed diets and personal preferences.

Perform various kitchen duties, including meal preparation, dishwashing, serving, cleaning, and cooking as needed.

Ensure all cleaning tasks are completed per schedule and sanitation standards.

Place and manage weekly food orders upon supervisor approval.

Conduct weekly inventory of food storage areas.

Assist with administrative duties such as menu creation, snack labeling, and menu assignments.

Maintain and update meal tickets and master menus for accurate resident meal service.

Prepare meals according to menus and recipes while maintaining food safety and quality standards.

Prepare therapeutic and modified-texture diets as required.

Review menus and upcoming meal schedules to complete necessary prep work in advance.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Previous dietary experience and Food Safety training preferred.

Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills.

Ability to work collaboratively with a team of nurses, CNAs, and senior support staff.

Commitment to quality service and resident satisfaction.

Schedule and Compensation

Full-time , Monday–Friday, 40 hours per week.

Participation in an every-other-weekend on-call rotation required.

Starting pay : $18.00 / hour (based on experience).
