This position requires that the candidate selected must currently possess and maintain an active TS / SCI security clearance with polygraph. The position further requires the candidate to opt into a commensurate clearance for each government agency for which they perform AWS work.

The Regions Services Corporate Infrastructure (RSCI) org is looking for a Security focused Systems Developer to automate validation that our services, applications, and infrastructure are designed and implemented to the highest security standards. Similarly, our highly collaborative team is committed to each team member's growth as our business grows.

You are expected to be strong in multiple security domains and provide contributions to the Engineering team and to multiple groups throughout Amazon. You are expected to closely work with service teams to develop secure solutions to complex business problems and ensure we are holding a high security bar for our customers.

You must foster constructive dialogue and seek resolution when confronted with discordant views. Engineers in this role are expected to participate fully in the planning of the org's team work and constantly seek opportunities for process improvement. You should also have a deep understanding of at least one specialty for which you are a sought - out resource (both within IT Security and by groups throughout Amazon), while having an understanding of the application of Information Security in a broad range of technical areas.

You will have a keen eye for potential problems and inefficiencies, and the initiative and drive to provide a complete solution to the problem. You will communicate clearly and collaborate with others to deliver results with minimal supervision. This leader must be able to dive deep into the details of business, operations, and engineering.

Key job responsibilities

The Systems Development Engineer is responsible for building, deploying and monitoring systems through automation to ensure that regional security initiatives are being optimally delivered.

You will utilize trends and metrics to identify opportunities for improvements within existing frameworks, tools and processes to continuously improve systems.

You will be responsible for analyzing the security of infrastructure, applications and services, discovering and addressing security issues, building security automation, and quickly reacting to new threat scenarios.

Basic Qualifications

3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

1+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

3+ years of administrative experience in networking, storage systems, operating systems and hands-on systems engineering experience

Knowledge of systems engineering fundamentals (networking, storage, operating systems)

Experience programming with at least one modern language such as C++, C#, Java, Python, Golang, PowerShell, Ruby

Current, active US Government Security Clearance of TS / SCI with Polygraph

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree, or CSSLP (Certified Secure Software Lifecycle Professional)

Experience with PowerShell (preferred), Python, Ruby, or Java

Experience working in an Agile environment using the Scrum methodology

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $116,300 / year in our lowest geographic market up to $201,200 / year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
