Job description
Unleash the Power of Communication in Coastal California - Become Our Speech Language Pathologist

Overview

Imagine a career where your expertise gives voice to those who struggle to communicate and manage swallowing difficulties. As a Speech Language Pathologist in one of Southern California's thriving coastal cities, you will engage in transformative work that not only addresses disorders but also fosters personal growth, boosts self-esteem, and cultivates deep human relationships. From the laughter of toddlers as they begin to articulate their first words to the triumphant moments of seniors regaining their independence, your impact will be profound and far-reaching.

This position presents a rare chance to work with a diverse population throughout all stages of life, combining outpatient therapy with occasional inpatient care. Whether your passion lies in pediatric speech development, adult neurological rehabilitation, or elderly cognitive recovery, you will find job satisfaction and professional variety in equal measure.

Description
  • Conduct assessments for patients spanning pediatric, adult, and geriatric age groups through both structured evaluations and observational methods.
  • Craft customized treatment plans that target specific short-term objectives while also addressing long-term communication, cognitive, or swallowing necessities.
  • Deliver individualized speech therapy focused on enhancing communication skills, language comprehension, fluency, voice quality, and swallowing abilities.
  • Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team including physical and occupational therapists, nurses, physicians, families, and caregivers to create integrated care plans.
  • Provide education for patients and their families to support progress beyond therapy sessions.
  • Assist with occasional inpatient speech therapy assessments and interventions to ensure seamless continuity of care.
  • Accurately document treatment plans and patient progress in compliance with all relevant guidelines.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development and peer networking to remain updated with advancements in the field.
Education
  • Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from a regionally accredited institution.
  • Completion of a Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) for those not yet ASHA-certified.
Certifications
  • Current state licensure as a Speech Language Pathologist.
  • Preferred: Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from ASHA.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within one month of hire.
Skills
  • Expertise in evidence-based treatment strategies across all age groups with a thorough understanding of developmental and acquired speech, language, and swallowing conditions.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills suitable for interactions with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
  • Adept at modifying therapeutic approaches to cater to a variety of cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
  • Strong analytical capabilities and problem-solving skills.
  • Comfortable navigating electronic health records and adhering to documentation protocols.
Benefits
  • Attractive salary structure commensurate with experience.
  • Flexible schedules to support your work-life harmony and a varied patient caseload.
  • Opportunities to specialize in either pediatric therapy, adult neuro rehabilitation, or geriatric care.
  • Generous paid time off (PTO) and holiday compensation.
  • Options for medical, dental, vision, and life insurance.
  • Support for continuing education expenses and professional growth initiatives.
  • A collaborative work environment emphasizing quality patient care and a commitment to learning.

A Career That Moves with You - and Moves You

In this role, you will do much more than provide therapy; you will join a compassionate and community-oriented team dedicated to empowering voices, enhancing communication, and creating joy in the simplest yet profound acts of connection.

Here, you'll collaborate with a group of clinicians who treat one another with respect and kindness in an environment that prioritizes teamwork over rivalry. Every patient represents a unique story, and we place our trust in you to help shape its narrative.

Why You'll Love Living and Working Here

The pace of life in this stunning coastal region of California offers a delightful blend of innovation and the warmth of community. Nestled along the Pacific shoreline, you'll savor the sun-kissed beaches and breathe in the fresh ocean air as you enjoy the state's famous sunsets. This locale is perfect for those who relish the tranquility of nature while being close to vibrant social scenes and opportunities for adventure.

Families spend time enjoying picnics in serene parks or attending lively outdoor concerts, while outdoor enthusiasts hike picturesque coastal trails, surf the gentle waves, or explore nearby organic farms and artisanal markets. Gourmet dining options abound, featuring cuisines that reflect the area's rich cultural tapestry, from fusion food trucks to Michelin-star restaurants.

The region's artistic spirit shines through its galleries, street performances, and festivals that showcase diversity and inclusion. For professionals in healthcare, there are added perks: no state income tax, a lower cost of living compared to major urban centers, and a flourishing healthcare system ripe with opportunities for growth.

No matter if you are embarking on your career or are a seasoned therapist seeking fresh challenges, this vibrant setting will nourish your growth - both personally and professionally.

Who We're Looking For

We are on the lookout for a Speech Language Pathologist who is not just focused on the metrics, but one who leads with compassion. We want someone who views a quiet child and pictures a vibrant future of self-expression, who hears the faltering speech of a recovering stroke patient and envisions resilience and hope.

Whether you are a pediatric expert aiming to diversify into adult services, or a clinician specialized in neurological rehabilitation wanting to integrate early intervention into your practice, your passion finds a home with us.

If you are ready to embrace your mission with dedication and bring your skills to the table, we invite you to apply.

Let's Discover the Right Words - Together

If you believe that speech is about more than sounds, and that therapy extends beyond mere tasks; if you believe in nurturing trust before setting goals and finding joy in the journey as well as the outcomes - then this position may be the next chapter in your professional narrative.

Join us as we build a community that cherishes connection, communication, and the courage to embrace new beginnings. Apply now to lend your voice to our passionate team - and help others find theirs.
