Procedural Area / Surgical Services Clinical Pharmacist
1) This position needs to work every other weekend.
2) Hours and shifts are based on departmental needs. The incumbent may also be required to work evening shifts intermittently, in accordance with departmental SOPs and / or operational needs, as well as every other weekend and rotating holidays.
DEFINITION / PRIMARY FUNCTIONS
Under direct supervision of the Pharmacy Clinical Manager, the Procedural Area / Surgical Services Pharmacist is responsible and accountable for pharmacy workflow related to the surgical services in the procedural areas of BMC main campus and Crane Center ambulatory surgery center; oversees technicians, ensures safe and effective medication verification and dispensing; educates pharmacy personnel and other disciplines on topics related to the procedural area; . Seeks to improve procedural area workflow by establishing a patient centered care model that improves operational efficiency, minimizes adverse medication use events and reduces medication costs for the hospital and patients. This incumbent is also responsible for reviewing procedural area medication orders, percept pharmacy students and pharmacy resident(s), working on clinical and performance improvement projects on topics related to their work setting and attending surgical rounds.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS (Minimum qualifications are required unless stated otherwise.)
Experience :
One year of Hospital Clinical Pharmacist Experience and / or completion of residency program
Education and Training :
Graduate of an accredited college of pharmacy with Pharm.D. degree.
Post-graduate residency preferred. Concentration or experience in procedural care / surgical services pharmacy is preferred.
License, Certification & Registration :
MAPHAR - Licensed MA Pharmacist
BCPS - Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist certification required upon hiring or within four years of employment OR The Board Certification in Emergency Medicine Pharmacy (BCEMP) within 2 years of employment.
ACLS certification
Other Requirements :
Excellent analytic and problem solving skills.
Leadership skills.
Detailed oriented, yet also understands organizational concepts.
Able to organize, prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Strong knowledge of and experience with Microsoft Suite Products (Excel, Word, Powerpoint, etc).
