Paraprofessional Job Description

SPECIFIC DUTIES:

• Assist classroom teacher in providing developmentally appropriate activities for students by implementing concrete learning activities that meet the varied developmental needs to students with and without special needs. Also works with ELL students.
• Assist classroom teacher in getting students into and out of the buildings and classrooms. This may include lifting and carrying of students.
• Assist teacher during activities such as field trips, and emergency drills.
• Assist teacher with classroom routines such as a snack, washing dishes, clean-up, bathroom and other similar activities.
• Assist teacher in maintaining a healthy and safe environment for children and perform such other tasks and assume responsibilities as assigned by the building principal.
• For HEALTH positions, only: position will include feeding, changing diapers and toileting children.

Requirements

• Successfully passed the Paraprofessional test, OR 48 college credits or more, OR a Bachelor's Degree (preferred)
• Experience with the appropriate age group.
