Job Description

As a Water Accountability Apprentice, you will perform essential physical labor and operate the required mechanical equipment to support the Water Accountability Team in its field operations. You will work closely under the direction of a Meter Technician and report directly to the Water Accountability & Customer Advocacy Manager. This role offers the opportunity to build foundational experience in the utility and public works sector with a path toward long-term career advancement.

Responsibilities :

  • Perform heavy manual labor and operate mechanical tools and equipment in support of field service operations
  • Assist with site preparation, including trench digging, compacting earth, backfilling, and loading / unloading materials and equipment
  • Support Meter Technicians by cleaning meter boxes, pumping vaults, and preparing trucks with necessary tools and supplies
  • Maintain vehicles and equipment through regular cleaning, fueling, and preventative care
  • Work safely outdoors in all weather conditions while following team instructions and completing other duties as assigned by leadership
  • Qualifications and Requirements :

  • Must possess a high school diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 6 months of heavy manual labor experience.
  • Willingness and ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Experience in construction, utilities, or public works environments preferred
  • Able to frequently lift and move objects of 50 pounds required.
  • Must successfully pass pre-employment screening

    The base hourly range for this position is $16.15, excluding benefits, bonuses, or other compensation. Your final salary will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, location, and internal pay equity.
