About The Position

License : Active RN License

Certifications : BLS, PALS

Must-Have :

• EVD and trach / vent experience
• Experience with Epic and Alaris preferred

Description :

The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit is seeking experienced registered nurses.

Candidates must possess a minimum of 2 years of PICU experience.

Nurses will be responsible for a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1 : 2.

Common diagnoses include trach / vent, DKA, respiratory issues, and surgical cases.

No cardiac patients are admitted in this unit.

Registered nurses are required to titrate drips, including propofol, fentanyl, and epinephrine.

There is a charge nurse on each shift; however, they do not take patient assignments.

There are no nurse aides or patient care techs available on this unit.

A pediatrician is in-house during the day and may occasionally take call from home at night.

Registered nurses are required to troubleshoot respiratory equipment such as vents, bubble CPAP, and BiPAP.

Nurses read and interpret their own telemetry strips.

Scheduling allows for flexibility, with up to 5 shifts in a block schedule, depending on unit needs.

There is a weekend requirement of 5 shifts in 6 weeks.

Holiday work is expected, with at least one holiday shift during a contract.

There is no call or standby requirement.

Floating to pediatrics for a full assignment is frequent, and nurses may float for mandatory patient sitter assignments.

Dress code allows for any color scrubs.
