Job Description

We are seeking a diligent and skilled Data Centre Technician to join our technical operations team. In this role, you will be the hands-on expert responsible for the physical layer of our IT infrastructure. You will ensure the stability, integrity, and efficient operation of our data centre by installing, maintaining, and repairing the critical systems that power our services. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver with a strong technical aptitude and a commitment to maintaining high standards of operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Install, rack, and cable servers, network hardware, and other data centre equipment according to best practices and company standards.

Perform routine and preventative maintenance on all data centre infrastructure to ensure optimal performance and reliability.

Monitor system performance, environmental controls, and physical security, responding promptly to any alerts or anomalies.

Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware failures for servers, storage systems, and network devices in a timely manner.

Implement and test data backup and disaster recovery protocols to safeguard critical information and ensure business continuity.

Maintain meticulous documentation for all installations, repairs, maintenance activities, and asset management.

Collaborate with network and systems engineering teams to support infrastructure projects and resolve complex technical issues.

Enforce strict physical security procedures to protect the data centre environment from unauthorized access.

Requirements

Proven experience as a Data Centre Technician or in a similar IT infrastructure role.

Strong hands-on experience with server and network hardware installation, troubleshooting, and repair.

Knowledge of structured cabling, power distribution, and cooling systems within a data centre environment.

Familiarity with data backup and disaster recovery principles.

Ability to work systematically and maintain detailed records of all work performed.

Excellent problem-solving skills and the capacity to work under pressure during critical incidents.

Must be able to lift and move equipment weighing up to 50 lbs (23 kg).

Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation and respond to emergency situations outside of regular business hours.
