Position Overview

The Sr Manager, Maintenance and Automation is responsible for supporting the maintenance and upkeep of all facility operations, including logistics and manufacturing automation, grounds, building systems, and material handling equipment (MHE). This role ensures safe, efficient, and uninterrupted operations by setting up skilled maintenance teams, monitoring preventative maintenance programs, and ensuring compliance with safety and operational standards. The Sr. Manager, Maintenance and Automation is part of the operations team and partners closely with site Maintenance Managers and external vendors to support productivity and continuous improvement. Candidates should have a strong background in industrial maintenance and good understanding of automation and robotics troubleshooting.

Work Location

This role is remote with frequent travel to various sites. Applicants from the Chicago or Atlanta area preferred.

Work Schedule

First Shift On-Site, Monday - Friday 8 : 30am - 5 : 00pm Eastern Standard Time.

Work Travel

Up to 70% domestic travel and travel between sites as needed.

Compensation

Attractive annual salary of $120,000 - $140,000 plus a performance-based bonus, with benefits including health, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k) matching, and more.

Responsibilities

Support existing operations through :

  • Hiring and training new site maintenance managers or technicians
  • Filling in for site maintenance managers when there are open positions or peak seasonal activity
  • Auditing and reviewing maintenance procedures
  • Supporting implementation of new equipment including FATs

Lead implementations at new distribution centers or manufacturing facilities through :

  • Implementing CMMS programs
  • Establishing spare parts inventory
  • Developing standard toolbox
  • Developing maintenance documentation and SOPs
  • Train new operators and technicians
  • Managing vendors installing new equipment including budget tracking
  • Setting up new vendors and establishing ways of working
  • Support all maintenance activities for the facility, including logistics automation, manufacturing automation, MHE, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, racking, janitorial, and building systems.

    Manage network maintenance projects ensuring timely execution of repairs, inspections, and preventive maintenance.

    Maintain and improve preventative maintenance programs, SOPs, and site-specific procedures.

    Investigate innovation projects including implementation of new predictive maintenance tools

    Conduct routine inspections of facility systems to ensure optimal performance and safety compliance.

    Troubleshoot and resolve malfunctions within facility and equipment

    Coordinate planned outages, capital projects, and repairs with internal departments and external contractors.

    Manage service records, inventory levels, and documentation for all maintenance activities and parts orders.

    Ensure compliance with company policies, OSHA regulations, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).

    Perform light building maintenance such as painting, bulb replacements, caulking, and minor repairs.

    Track maintenance data to identify trends, reduce downtime, and optimize asset performance.

    Support safety and compliance initiatives by identifying and correcting unsafe conditions and reporting violations.

    Other duties as assigned to support facility operations.
