New Outlook Home Care of Central Oregon is looking for a Registered Nurse to join a high quality in home care agency. This position is very part time with a very flexible schedule for the right RN who is wanting to share their knowledge and inspire caregivers. Responsibilities include teaching caregivers skills and knowledge of medication administration, conduct training classes for medication training and the ability to work one on one with some of the most amazing clients in the Central Oregon area. Hours will vary each week, and is dependent on the agency's need. Approximate hours are up to 10 hours per week but could increase over time.
JOB TITLE / POSITION : Registered Nurse (RN)
JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
The registered nurse develops, directs, implements and supervises the medication
and nursing services provided by New Outlook Home Care. The RN obtains
physician orders for medications and medical treatments; monitors these services
being provided by the agency; trains caregiving staff on specific medication tasks
and observes their return demonstration of these medication tasks; delegates tasks
of nursing; assures the agency’s system for the management of medications and
medical treatments is safe and meets the requirements of the in-home care
licensing rules as well as best practices for medication and medical treatment
management.
JOB FUNCTIONS / RESPONSIBILITIES
Administration, Monitoring, Assessment, Communication
May require RN to conduct an assessment of client’s care needs and in
particular, medication and medical treatment service needs.
Conduct client monitoring visits to reevaluate the clients’ medication services
and / or delegated tasks of nursing to determine if they’re being conducted,
documented and administered safely and correctly by agency caregivers.
May include conducting monitoring of the client’s condition(s) and progress,
and discovering the training needs of caregivers.
May include the initiation of the service plan in conjunction with the client
and / or the client’s representative and making necessary revisions as the
client’s status and needs change.
Manages the agency’s medication system and medical treatments as
prescribed by the clients’ physicians.
Provides instructions and / or delegation of tasks of nursing to caregivers as
appropriate per assessment and the service plan.
Communicates with caregiving team as a part of the service plan
development.
Obtains physician or practitioner’s orders in writing and files in client’s
records
May teach the client, family or caregiver self-care techniques as appropriate.
Provides instructions to caregivers regarding medications and medical
treatments for clients ordered by clients’ physicians.
Additional Duties
Participates in New Outlook Home Care’s Quality Improvement Team
meetings
Participates in on-call duties as assigned.
Instructs, supervises and evaluates caregivers providing medication and
medical treatment services.
Assumes responsibility for personal growth and development and maintains
and upgrades professional knowledge and practice skills through attendance
and participation in continuing education and in-service classes.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Current licensed Oregon Registered Nurse in good standing with the Oregon
State Board of Nursing.
Documentation of ability to work legally in U.S.A.
Maintains a current CPR certification.
Current valid driver’s license and vehicle with insurance.
Minimum of two years’ experience, in home care or hospice nursing is
preferred.
Self-directed and able to work with minimal supervision.
Demonstrates excellent observation, problem solving, verbal and written
communication skills.
Shows ability to organize and prioritize workload independently.
