The Sr. Staff Accountant plays a key leadership role in overseeing the organization’s financial operations. This position is responsible for all accounting functions, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and maintaining compliance with grant requirements and non-profit accounting standards. The ideal candidate is a mission-driven professional with deep experience in non-profit financial management, including grant accounting and the use of SAGE Intacct.
• Day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and bank reconciliations.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports as directed by the Controller.
• Ensure accurate and compliant tracking, reporting, and invoicing of all government and private grants.
• Collaborate with program staff to monitor budgets, manage grant allocations, and prepare financial reports for funders.
• Maintain internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure accurate financial reporting.
• Coordinate the annual audit process and serve as a liaison with external auditors.
• Minimum of 5 years of progressive non-profit accounting experience, including experience with grant management and fund accounting.
• Strong proficiency in SAGE Intacct is required.
• Demonstrated knowledge of federal, state, and local grant regulations and reporting requirements.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA or MBA preferred.
