Your Role
Aptiv is currently undergoing a strategic divestiture of its Engineered Distribution Systems (EDS) business unit. As part of this transition, we are seeking a dynamic IT Category Manager to be located in Troy, Michigan, USA to establish and lead the IT procurement function for the newly independent EDS organization. This is a unique opportunity to build an IT category management function from the ground up during a critical business transformation. The successful candidate will initially focus on ensuring business continuity through the transition period, during which IT services will be partially delivered under a Transitional Services Agreement (TSA). Beyond the transition, you will be responsible for right-sizing IT procurement to meet EDS's future requirements and establishing independent service capabilities. With demonstrated success, there is significant potential to expand your role to manage both IT and Professional Services categories as the organization evolves.
In your daily job you will :
- Develop and execute comprehensive category strategies for IT procurement, including hardware, software, services, and telecommunications
- Lead strategic sourcing initiatives for complex IT categories with significant organizational impact
- Analyse market trends, supplier capabilities, and internal requirements to identify optimization opportunities
- Negotiate and manage enterprise agreements with key technology vendors and service providers
- Partner with IT stakeholders to understand business requirements and align procurement strategies accordingly
- Drive cost savings, risk mitigation, and value creation across the IT category
- Manage supplier relationships to ensure contractual compliance and value realization
- Implement innovative procurement approaches that leverage emerging technologies and methodologies
- Provide category expertise and guidance to procurement teams and business stakeholders
- Lead cross-functional teams in complex sourcing projects and digital transformation initiatives
Your Background
Key skills and competencies for succeeding in this role are :
8+ years of procurement experience with at least 5 years specializing in IT category management, experience in Professional Services category would be desirable.Demonstrated expertise in strategic sourcing, contract negotiation, and supplier relationship managementStrong understanding of IT infrastructure, software licensing models, cloud services, and emerging technologiesExperience managing enterprise-wide technology agreements and complex vendor relationshipsUnderstanding of IT & Professional Services engagement models, rate structures, and delivery methodologiesTrack record of successfully managing consulting firms, system integrators, and other IT & professional service providersExperience with statement of work (SOW) development, negotiation, and managementKnowledge of resource augmentation models and contingent workforce managementProven track record of delivering measurable cost savings and value improvementsAdvanced analytical skills and proficiency with procurement systems and data analysis toolsExcellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management abilitiesBachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Information Technology, or related field; MBA or Master's degree preferredProfessional certification preferred (CPSM, CSCP, CIPP, or similar)Why Join Us?
