Registered Nurse - Inpatient Med / Surg 15WT

We are searching for a Registered Nurse for our 15WT Med / Surg Unit - someone who works well in a fast-paced setting.

15 WT is a 36-bed med / surge unit; which provides care for pediatric patients under PHM (Pediatric Hospital Medicine). Patients under the care of PHM are typically healthy patients that require hospitalization usually due to an acute event, i.e. status asthmaticus, cellulitis, bronchiolitis. Patient age ranges from a few days old to teenagers and young adults. Developmental ages vary by patient. Complex care patients (multiple comorbidities) and behavioral health patients are other patient populations that are under the PHM service. Our patient length-of-stay is around 2.5 days.

Requirements :

• Bachelor's degree in nursing or an associate degree, technical diploma, or current enrollment in a nursing bridge program is required
• Current licensure with the Board of Nursing for the State of Texas or Nurse Licensure Compact and BLS certification with American Heart Association are required
• One (1) year of professional nursing experience
• The ability to demonstrate positive and appropriate interpersonal skills
• Demonstrate good time and resource management skills
• Demonstrate flexibility
• Demonstrate strong oral and written communication skills
• Operate unit specific equipment
• Able to work nights
• Knowledge of the nursing process, critical thinking skills, PALS, ACLS and interdisciplinary collaboration
