Rapidly growing mid-sized law firm is seeking a Finance and Accounting Specialist / Junior Comptroller to join the firm’s finance team. While FRB does have an office in Manhattan, Westchester and California, this position will be primarily based out of our Rockville Centre location and can be hybrid or fully remote for the right candidate. Job Summary The Finance and Accounting Specialist / Junior Comptroller supports the Comptroller / CFO in overseeing the accounting and finance operations of the firm.
This role ensures accurate financial reporting, compliance with accounting standards and legal / regulatory requirements (including law-firm specific requirements), and contributes to financial planning, analysis, internal controls, and operational efficiency. The ideal candidate will have the capability to create journal entries and reconcile deposits in QBO to our billing system (CLIO), assist with monthly closes in QBO, calculate and prepare complex commissions calculations and other financial reports, and address 401K and workers comp audits at a minimum. They will be organized and approach each issue with an analytical mindset. Reports To Controller and the Management Committee Key Responsibilities Oversee day-to-day accounting operations :
Ability to engage with attorneys / partners, operations, and management. Proficiency with QuickBooks Online and mastery of Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, modeling). High level of integrity, confidentiality and the ability to handle sensitive financial and partner / firm-equity matters. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, meet deadlines and work effectively in a collaborative but fast-paced environment. Preferred Qualifications Prior law-firm or professional services accounting experience (including partner compensation) Experience with business intelligence / reporting tools, process automation or finance systems implementation. Familiarity with billing / timekeeping systems specific to law firms and the intersections of finance + operations in the legal services environment.
