Plumbing Estimator- Talon Plumbing

Position Summary- Hybrid Roll The Plumbing Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive bids for plumbing projects.

This role includes reviewing invitations to bid, performing material and labor take-offs, developing detailed scopes of work, and building / maintaining a structured sales pipeline.

The Estimator ensures that bids are accurate, complete, and aligned with company margin and profitability goals.

Success in this role requires a detail-oriented professional who partners closely with operations before bids are submitted to ensure constructability, resource alignment, and profitability.

The Estimator also uses ServiceTitan to track pipeline, measure hit rates, and monitor estimate accuracy against actual performance.

• Principal Responsibilities & Duties Bid Management Review invitations to bid, project drawings, and specifications Perform detailed material and labor take-offs for plumbing systems Develop clear scopes of work, line-item estimates, and proposals Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotes to ensure competitiveness and compliance Operations Partnership Collaborate with operations teams prior to bid submission to validate scope, schedule assumptions, and field feasibility Ensure proposed solutions align with company resources, labor capacity, and operational capabilities Document assumptions, exclusions, and risk factors for handoff to operations Pipeline Development Build and maintain a disciplined bid pipeline with follow-up on outstanding proposals Track success rates and recommend improvements to bidding strategies Collaborate with leadership to qualify opportunities and prioritize high-value projects Collaboration & Communication Provide clear handoffs of awarded projects, including scope, budgets, and documented assumptions Partner with project managers to support value-engineering options and clarifications Communicate regularly with suppliers and subcontractors to maintain competitive pricing Continuous Improvement Monitor estimate accuracy by comparing to actual job costs in ServiceTitan Refine material pricing, labor factors, and assumptions using job cost feedback Participate in weekly reviews and training to strengthen estimating accuracy Financial Performance Produce accurate estimates that support margin targets and profitability goals Ensure bids reflect true costs of labor, materials, and overhead Contribute to the company’s financial health by winning competitive, profitable work Eligible for a bonus per awarded project , tying personal performance to company success Performance Standards Estimate Accuracy – Measured by variance between estimated and actual costs in ServiceTitan Bid Timeliness – Submissions completed on or before deadlines Pipeline Management – Healthy backlog of qualified bids with disciplined follow-up Operations Partnership – Documented collaboration with operations prior to submission Financial Impact – Projects awarded at or above target margins Accountability to Core Values – Demonstrated integrity, urgency, customer focus, and follow-through in all estimates EEO Statement / Disclaimer This job description reflects management’s assignment of essential functions and may be subject to change at any time.
