Job description

Northwell Health , a

leader in innovative healthcare, seeks a distinguished pathologist

who will serve as Vice Chair of Laboratory Medicine as well as a

proactive Medical Director for our Core Laboratory. Join us in

shaping the future of diagnostic laboratory services at one of the

largest health systems in the nation. This key leadership position

involves recruitment and mentoring of faculty, strategic planning,

operational oversight, and ensuring excellence in patient care

through innovative laboratory practices. The ideal candidate will

be a board-certified pathologist with at least 10 years of

progressive clinical and leadership experience.

The integrated service line for Pathology and Laboratory Medicine

of Northwell Health is a 21-hospital system with a

centralized core laboratory and a microbiology core serving the

greater New York metropolitan area as well as Health and Hospitals

corporation.

Northwell Health Labs

, with its centralized core laboratory, a microbiology

core, and over 60 hospital and outpatient locations, provides

outstanding diagnostic care to our patients.

Our pathologists and PhD scientists study the causes,

processes and diagnosis of diseases, with laboratory services

touching every department within the health system. Our

experts perform more than 25 million tests per year, from

general testing to specialized testing in complex microbiology,

endocrinology, cytogenetics, molecular genetics, cytology,

hematology, immunology, special coagulation and transfusion

medicine.

The Department of Pathology and

Laboratory Medicine service line has a mission to sub-specialize

anatomic pathology and laboratory medicine. In laboratory medicine,

this includes 20 MD and PhD members in areas of microbiology,

hematology, coagulation, clinical chemistry, flow cytometry,

cytogenetics, point of care, informatics and molecular genetic

pathology. In addition, the community hospitals in the system that

support rapid response laboratories are part of the integrated

laboratory services. The department is home to Pathology Residency

Training Programs for thirty-two pathology residents (predominantly

AP / CP track) and seven subspecialty fellowships. Academic

appointments are at the Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra

University.

Key Responsibilities :

Contribute to enhancing

the overall patient care experience through the integration of

laboratory services.

Mentor and guide

department faculty in professional growth and development.

Lead a team of skilled laboratory

professionals, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and

collaboration.

Assist the Chair with

departmental management, strategic initiatives, and policy

development.

Oversee all Core Lab operations

to ensure high-quality diagnostic services and compliance with

regulatory standards.

Implement new

technologies and methodologies for efficient laboratory processes.

Collaborate with clinical teams to optimize

laboratory resource utilization and enhance patient care.

Drive academic and

research endeavors within the division; support scholarly

activities among faculty and staff.

Qualifications : MD., M.D. / PhD, or

equivalent degrees, with board certification in Clinical Pathology

or both Clinical and Anatomic Pathology. Candidates with clinical

experience in Clinical Chemistry and / or Molecular Pathology

preferred.

Proven experience in laboratory

leadership and management is essential.

Strong academic achievement and leadership track record in a

hospital / academic setting or comparable commercial laboratory.

Excellent interpersonal and communication

skills for effective team collaboration and patient interaction.

Commitment to advancing laboratory science

through innovation and research.
