Job Summary
The House Supervisor is a key nursing leadership role responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care across the hospital during assigned shifts. Serving as a resource and reference point for staff, patients, and families, the House Supervisor coordinates staffing, supports staff development, and collaborates with other departments and physicians to provide seamless, patient-centered care.
Essential Functions
Ensure the provision of safe, high-quality care for all patients.
Serve as a leader and resource for nursing staff, patients, and families.
Adjust staffing levels based on the patient classification system.
Collaborate with department leaders and clinical coordinators to support quality initiatives.
Assist physicians in addressing patient care concerns and clinical challenges.
Participate actively in employee recruitment, retention, and staff development efforts.
Deliver direct patient care appropriate to the age and needs of the patient population served.
Job Requirements
Education :
Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program - required
Licensure :
Current West Virginia RN license - required
Certifications (must be obtained within specified timeframes) :
Basic Life Support (BLS) - within 30 days
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - within 6 months
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) - within 6 months
Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) - within 6 months
Experience & Skills :
Demonstrated leadership, management, and problem-solving skills
Strong teaching, mentoring, and communication abilities
Ability to work in high-stress environments and take appropriate action
Proven ability to foster effective interdisciplinary relationships across the healthcare team
Objectivity, tolerance, and understanding in patient and staff interactions
