Description :
This position is for a Registered Nurse specializing in Medical-Surgical / Telemetry.
The nurse will work night shifts, specifically 4 shifts of 12 hours each.
The nurse-patient ratios during evening shifts are typically 5 to 1, stretching to 6 / 7 when required.
During night shifts, the ratios are 6 / 7 to 1, with potential stretches to 8 / 9.
The unit is staffed with Patient Care Technicians responsible for vital signs, blood glucose checks, and activities of daily living.
An in-house phlebotomy team handles all peripheral lab draws, while nursing staff are responsible for PICC lines and central lines.
Candidates are expected to float between like units as needed without practicing outside their scope.
The unit accommodates patients with diagnoses such as acute respiratory failure, CHF, COPD exacerbation, pneumonia, and sepsis.
Special equipment utilized includes BIPAP, CPAP, high-flow oxygen, ventilators, tracheostomy equipment, and chest tubes.
Experience with the electronic health record system is preferred.
The role requires the ability to manage amiodarone drips and participate in rapid response team activations.
Candidates should have relevant experience in managing respiratory conditions and demonstrate proficiency with various oxygen delivery systems.
This position involves working with an interdisciplinary support team, including physical therapy, respiratory services, and social services.
