The Director of Accounting and Financial Operations serves as a key leadership figure at the Knights of Columbus Charitable Fund (KCCF), the world's largest facilitator of Catholic philanthropy, having distributed over $200 million in charitable grants over the past five years. This role is instrumental in ensuring the financial integrity and operational excellence of KCCF's donor-advised fund (DAF) program and other related entities. This position blends strategic oversight with hands-on execution, requiring a candidate who is equally comfortable developing financial policies and rolling up their sleeves to manage day-to-day accounting and operational tasks.

The role involves managing core accounting functions, overseeing financial reporting, processing financial transactions and driving process improvements across the organization. Success in this position requires a strong foundation in nonprofit accounting and financial or treasury operations, excellent communication and leadership skills, and a practical mindset suited to a mission-driven environment.

Core Responsibilities

Accounting

• Lead the preparation and review of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for multiple entities.
• Oversee general ledger activity, including journal entries, reconciliations, and adjustments.
• Manage the annual audit process and the preparation of Form 990s, coordinating with external auditors and tax professionals.
• Develop, implement, and maintain accounting policies and procedures, with a focus on donor-advised funds and other charitable strategies.
• Provide financial reporting and analysis for the Board of Directors and various committees.

Compensation

The wage range for this role takes into account a broad array of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to : skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The range below applies as long as the work is performed in Connecticut; the Knights of Columbus reserves the right to adjust the wage range if the position is performed in another location. At the Knights of Columbus, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $104,500 - $172,400.
