About The Medical Surgical / Observation Department At Boston Medical Center
The Observation Unit is comprised of 28 bays, which is adjacent to the PACU. This unit provides protocol driven care to a specific population of patients whose length of stay is typically 24 hours or less. The unit often turns over the entire census each day, resulting in a fast paced high-volume environment. Patient types can include (but are not limited to) abdominal pain, R / O MI, acute wound care, and acute respiratory issues. The unit is run by the Hospitalists and Family Medicine and documentation is tailored to this specific population.
Position Summary
As a Patient Care Technician in MedSurg, you will be a key member of the healthcare team at BMC. Under the direction and supervision of the registered nurse (RN) and in accordance with hospital policies, procedures, protocols, and standards of practice, our Patient Care Technicians provide direct clinical and support services. Using our patient-centered care model and uplifted by a supportive nursing organization, you will participate in the delivery of care to our patients and their families. You will also work cooperatively with all healthcare team members to provide a variety of support services to meet patient, family, and staff needs.
Job Responsibilities
Perform a variety of appropriately delegated patient care interventions for patients in the MedSurg department and their families.
