American Traveler seeks an experienced RN for a Cardiac Stepdown position with weekend nightshift coverage and titration of cardiac drips.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Work in an acute care cardiac stepdown unit with 22 stepdown and 10 floor bedsPatient population includes cardiology, heart failure, cardiac surgery, and med-surg casesNurse-to-patient ratios are 1 : 3 in stepdown and 1 : 5 or 6 on the floorTitratable drips commonly managed include heparin, insulin, nitro, Cardizem, nicardipine, Lasix, amiodarone, and dobutamineNight shift schedule : Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, 7pm–7 : 30am, with assigned holiday coverageExpected to float to floor assignments as needed, typically one out of every three shiftsUses Epic for chartingRoyal blue scrubs are requiredDedicated charge nurse assigned per shift, with additional house supervisors present at all timesSupport from clinical associates with typical night ratios of 1 : 16, budget permitting 1 : 8Respiratory therapy equipment includes NC, CPAP, BiPAP, high-flow NC, trach to vent, and dedicated RT support for the unitTele monitor techs monitor and record tele strips using Phillips systemsUnit allows for self-scheduling and block scheduling via KronosHoliday coverage required for either the eve or day of major holidaysFirst-time travelers are consideredOrientation specific to the unit will be provided\n \n Requirements\n
Active WV or compact RN licenseCurrent ACLS (AHA), BLS (AHA), and NIHSS certificationsAt least 1 year of recent RN experience requiredStepdown or cardiac experience preferredExperience in titrating cardiac drips requiredAbility to pass relevant EKG testing if assigned at certain facilitiesNo previous employment at WVU Medicine locations within the past 2 years if reapplyingCannot work within the WVU system for more than 1 year without taking a 2-year breakNot eligible if residing within 50 miles of the facility\n Benefits\n
