Job Description

Day in the Life in Britton, SD

Your shift begins by reviewing the job traveler and blueprints, selecting tooling, and preparing your machine cell. You dial in offsets, calibrate your CNC, and run a first-piece to verify every feature against the print. Throughout the run, you keep an eye on cycle performance, make minor adjustments to maintain quality, and document machine settings so the next run starts smoothly. When issues arise, you handle routine maintenance and troubleshoot to keep production moving. You work shoulder-to-shoulder with engineering and production to fine-tune processes and you leave the area spotless and safe for the next teammate.

Core Responsibilities

  • Set up and calibrate CNC machines for production runs to meet customer specifications.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to determine tooling, workholding, and offsets.
  • Monitor machine operations, verify part quality, and adjust as needed for optimal performance.
  • Perform routine maintenance and troubleshoot CNC equipment to minimize downtime.
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to improve setup efficiency and part quality.
  • Maintain accurate records of production parameters, tooling, and machine settings.
  • Follow safety procedures and keep a clean, orderly work environment.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; a machining-related technical degree or certification is a plus.
  • 3+ years of experience as a CNC machinist or setup technician.
  • Solid knowledge of CNC machining processes, tooling, and workholding.
  • Ability to interpret technical documents and complex blueprints.
  • Proficiency with precision measuring instruments (e.g., calipers, micrometers, gauges).
  • Sharp problem-solving skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Clear communicator and effective team player in a collaborative environment.
  • Join a dynamic team committed to craftsmanship and consistency—where your precision directly shapes high-quality parts for our customers.
