Schedule / Hours : Full-time evening shifts, including 8 or 10 hour shifts, Monday to Friday, with on-call requirements predominantly overnight. Call involves approximately 5-8 slots per 8-week schedule and 1-2 weekend slots, with arrival required within 30 minutes.
Key Responsibilities :
Maintain a clean, safe, and efficient environment for optimal patient care, using aseptic surgical techniques to prepare necessary materials and equipment.Demonstrate proficiency across a variety of surgical procedures while functioning efficiently as part of the surgical team.Ensure operating room readiness by efficiently setting up and returning equipment post-procedure.Assist as a Second Assistant when needed and communicate equipment or supply concerns to relevant staff.Transport patients and manage supplies, guaranteeing the availability and condition of specialty items.Adapt care methods to accommodate the age-specific needs of patients while demonstrating proper lifting and transporting techniques.Licensure, Registration, and Certification Required :
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association must be obtained within 6 months unless otherwise waived by department leadership.Required Education :
Successful completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program.Required Experience :
No prior experience necessary.Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required :
Strong understanding of aseptic techniques and operating room procedures.Knowledge of operating room equipment.Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.Basic computer proficiency.Commitment to maintaining annual educational requirements for hospital-based certifications.Physical Requirements and Working Conditions :
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and stressful environment.Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs, carrying up to 40 lbs, and pushing / pulling with a force of 30 lbs.Spend extended periods sitting, standing, walking, lifting, squatting, bending, reaching, and twisting during shifts.Exposure to various hazards including mechanical, electrical, and biological materials is a continuous requirement.Must possess functional sight and hearing and comply with required personal protective equipment.This job description summarizes the general nature and level of work involved.
