The ideal candidate will possess extensive clinical experience, including working with diverse patient populations such as geriatrics, memory care, and individuals with developmental disabilities. This role offers an opportunity to provide exceptional patient care across various healthcare settings, including nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and hospitals. Candidates should be proficient in electronic health record systems such as Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth, and eClinicalWorks, with a strong foundation in medical documentation, HIPAA compliance, and patient assessment. Experience in critical care environments like ICU, trauma centers, or emergency rooms is highly valued. The RN will be responsible for delivering comprehensive nursing care, performing assessments, administering medications and injections, managing ventilators and catheters, and coordinating discharge planning. Knowledge of ICD-10 / ICD-9 coding, laboratory procedures, sterile processing, and infection control is essential. The role requires adaptability to various clinical specialties including cardiology, nephrology (dialysis), oncology (Botulinum toxin treatments), pediatrics, neonatal care, hospice & palliative medicine, and behavioral health.\n\nDuties\n
- Conduct thorough patient assessments including vital signs, physical examinations, and physiological evaluations.\n
- Administer medications via IV infusion, injections, and other routes while adhering to aseptic techniques.\n
- Manage complex medical devices such as ventilators, catheters (including ostomy care), NG tubes for gastric lavage or feeding tubes.\n
- Perform diagnostic evaluations including specimen collection / processing and laboratory testing.\n
- Document all patient interactions accurately within EMR / EHR systems ensuring compliance with HIPAA standards.\n
- Provide specialized care for diverse populations such as geriatrics in memory or dementia care units; pediatric and neonatal patients; individuals with developmental disabilities; patients requiring acute pain management or trauma medicine.\n
- Assist with invasive procedures like suturing, spinal taps, gastrostomy placements; participate in emergency interventions including airway management and trauma response.\n
- Coordinate discharge planning and case management to ensure seamless transition of care across settings.\n
- Maintain infection control protocols and sterile processing standards to ensure patient safety.\n\nRequirements\n
- Valid RN license with current registration in the applicable state(s).\n
- Proven experience in one or more of the following areas : ICU / trauma center (Level I & II), emergency medicine, hospital medicine, medical-surgical units, long-term care facilities (nursing homes), assisted living or home & community care settings.\n
- Demonstrated proficiency with EMR / EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth or eClinicalWorks.\n
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy & physiology; familiarity with ICD-10 / ICD-9 coding and CPT coding is preferred.\n
- Ability to perform complex clinical tasks including IV insertion / infusion therapy, phlebotomy, specimen collection / processing.\n
- Experience managing ventilators, catheters (including Foley and ostomy), NG tubes; knowledge of infection control practices.\n
- Critical thinking skills with the ability to triage effectively in urgent situations; experience working with patients with behavioral health needs or cognitive impairments like Alzheimer's or dementia is advantageous.\n
- Must pass a comprehensive background check and drug screening prior to assignment.\n
- Excellent communication skills for collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and educating patients / families on treatment plans.
