Overview
Value Stream Manager role at Designs for Health. The Value Stream Manager is responsible for ensuring the efficient and effective management of the production, inventory, logistics, and personnel within the manufacturing and warehouse functions of their assigned value stream. This role directs the work of both manufacturing and warehouse teams to maintain a safe and efficient workflow, including process improvement, space optimization, inventory accuracy, and people management, while maintaining Safety, Quality, cGMP, GDP, FDA, and NSF Standards.
Responsibilities
- Champions employee safety and product quality
- Coordinates all manufacturing and warehouse activities for their assigned Value Stream
- Supervises the manufacturing and warehouse personnel for their assigned Value Stream
- Oversees all employee training for their assigned Value Stream (including updating, conducting, and documenting in a timely fashion)
- Evaluate and manage machine and personnel resources to ensure high productivity and minimal downtime
- Plan and coordinate daily manufacturing and warehouse activities, including receiving, picking, shipping, returns, cycle counts, and production adherence to plan
- Conduct regular cycle counts and physical inventory audits to ensure inventory accuracy and resolve discrepancies promptly
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as planning, procurement, quality, and distribution, to meet customer demands
- Implement and enforce health and safety regulations to create a safe working environment for manufacturing and warehouse personnel
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and cost reduction and implement effective solutions
- Utilize relevant software such as Sage and NetSuite to track inventory, generate reports, and analyze data
- Maintain relationships with suppliers, carriers, and other external partners to ensure smooth inbound and outbound logistics operations
- Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and technological advancements related to manufacturing and warehouse management
- Follows Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Good Documentation Practices (GDP), and safety requirements
- Champions continuous improvement as a way of doing business within their assigned Value Stream
- Effectively escalates / communicates issues and obstacles to senior management
- Responsible for managing staff accountability and performance and taking appropriate disciplinary action when necessary
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, logistics, business administration, or a related field (preferred)5 years' experience in manufacturing and / or logistics supervisory role or 2 years' experience in manufacturing and / or logistics management role5 years' experience in nutraceutical, pharmaceutical, food, or medical device manufacturingStrong knowledge of warehouse operations, FIFO, FEFO, cycle count, and inventory control practicesExperience in Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, and KPI ManagementCompetencies
Expertise with warehouse management systems (WMS) and inventory management software like Sage and NetSuiteExtensive knowledge in manufacturing concepts, processes, and proceduresExcellent leadership and interpersonal skills to effectively manage and motivate a diverse teamExceptional problem-solving abilities and attention to detailStrong analytical skills with the ability to analyze data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisionsProficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other relevant software applicationsAbility to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines, and adapt to changing prioritiesKnowledge of health and safety regulations and practices within a manufacturing and warehouse environmentExcellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively interact with internal and external stakeholdersPhysical Demands
