Job Description : Position Summary : As an integral
piece of the Clinical Nutrition and Culinary team, the Senior
Nutrition Assistant role is to work closely with the Registered
Dietitian and Certified Dietary Manager to ensure that the patients
on the RSU and MCU are assisted in their menu selections to ensure
that the patients receive their appropriate diet and requested
items. Core Competencies : Demonstrates strong customer service
skills with patients, families, and clinical / culinary staff Shares
information with the team to keep everyone abreast of patients’
status. Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with
patients, families and staff that conveys respect and
professionalism even in challenging situations High attention to
detail to ensure menus / diet orders are appropriately completed and
accurately entered into computer system, and ensure tray accuracy
Able to multitask and concentrate on fine detail with interruptions
on a frequent basis Works independently with minimal
supervision. Exercises initiative, seeking additional tasks
and projects from supervisor. Accepts assignments readily.
Recognizes problems independently and works toward improving
systems and procedures. Maintain confidentiality of patient
information Position Responsibilities : Assists patients with menu
selection and enters into computer Reviews menu selections to
ensure compliance to preferences, allergies, and prescribed diet
Relays relevant information back to the team to keep everyone
abreast of patients’ status. Enters patient information in computer
Answers phone and message machine in a timely manner and takes
appropriate steps to ensure customer satisfaction Prepares hot and
cold production sheets and file accordingly Prepares late tickets
as requested Leads, mentors and trains newly hired Nutrition
Assistants Responsible for EOC rounding on RSU, pantry / RSU
kitchenette, assuring CMS standards (FIF0, proper labeling and
dating etc) are being maintained. Maintains diet office supplies
Calculates and communicates weekly enteral feeding PAR requirements
weekly to Central Stores As requested by Registered Dietitian,
conduct calorie counts, visits with patients obtains
preferences / food allergies, takes snack orders, determine tolerance
of meals / supplements, and reinforces patient education Quality
Assurance : conduct meal rounds and test trays Process Improvement
projects encouraged in the LEAN philosophy Has complete knowledge
and understanding of the pod / pantry process including set up,
plating meals, checking trays for accuracy, delivery of food truck
to unit and clean up Follow safety and sanitation rules and
regulations Follow department and hospital policy and procedures
Books outpatient nutrition appointments Conduct monthly in-services
Assists the supervisors in helping team complete LMS trainings.
Performs other related duties as required or directed
Qualifications : College level nutrition courses required. AS / BS in
Nutrition strongly encouraged Food service experience at hospital
setting preferred Prior experience as nutrition assistant or
knowledge of therapeutic diets preferred Effective verbal,
electronic and written communications skills using the English
language required Strong customer service and team-focused
interpersonal skills needed Computer skills required. Previous
experience with Computrition nutrition program a plus. Word and
Excel competency a plus Attention to detail and multi-tasking
abilities required Demonstrates ability to prioritize work, meet
deadlines, and adapt to changing situations Serve Safe Certified to
be obtained within 6 months of hire CPR to be obtained within 6
months of hire. Allergy Awareness Certificate to be obtained within
6 months of hire Demonstrates desire for leadership and clinical
