Job Summary :
The CNA / GNA / Caregiver is responsible for providing direct patient care and support under the supervision of nursing staff. This role assists patients with daily activities, monitors vital signs, and ensures a safe, clean, and comfortable environment for individuals in need of care.
Key Responsibilities :
Assist residents or patients with activities of daily living (ADLs), such as bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and feeding
Measure and record vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure, weight)
Help patients with mobility, including transferring from beds to wheelchairs and repositioning
Monitor and report changes in patient’s physical or emotional condition to nursing staff
Ensure patient rooms are clean, organized, and safe
Provide companionship and emotional support
Assist with meal preparation and feeding if needed
Maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations
Follow infection control protocols and proper hygiene procedures
Document care provided using appropriate systems or charts
Participate in training and continuing education as required
Qualifications :
Valid CNA or GNA certification (state-Maryland)
CPR / First Aid certification
Previous experience in caregiving or healthcare (preferred but not always required)
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Compassionate, patient, and dependable
Physically able to lift, move, or support patients as needed
Work Environment :
May work in hospitals, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, or private homes
Requires physical effort including standing, walking, bending, and lifting
May involve exposure to bodily fluids and infectious diseases
Schedule :
Full-time, part-time, or per diem
Day, evening, weekend, and holiday shifts may be required
